Smart Rings: A Sizing Business Before It Is a Sensor Business

Updated 22 Oct 2026 · line pages list every model with its published specification

Two AI health rings built for wholesale and OEM programmes — pharmacy and wellness retail, sports and cycling channels, gift and corporate programmes. The sensor list sells the box; the size curve, the skin-contact report and the exchange policy decide whether the channel keeps the category.

What this line is for

Why a ring behaves differently on a shelf than a watch does

A watch is returned because of battery life or a strap. A ring is returned because it does not fit, or because it fits at 9am and falls off in a warm bath. That single difference turns a ring programme into a sizing exercise with electronics attached — and it is where most first-time ring buyers lose their margin.

Rings also carry a stricter documentation question than almost any other wearable: the device touches skin continuously, in bed and in the shower, so nickel release is a real test scope rather than a formality. And because a ring has no screen, everything a customer believes about it comes from the app and the box — which is precisely where the medical-sounding claims appear if a supplier is not disciplined about wording.

We build two rings for this category. One is fully specified and stocked across sizes 6 to 13 with a skin-temperature trend; the other is a lower-friction counter product with a charging case, three metal finishes and mixed colour-and-size batches, so a retailer can test the category without committing a run to one SKU.

R1 AI Health Ring

A 4 g aluminium-titanium ring with a ceramic inner surface: optical heart rate and blood oxygen, skin-temperature trends and a three-axis IMU, feeding sleep, recovery, stress and cycle tracking as wellness trends for generally healthy adults. Sizes 6 to 13 are stocked and half sizes are possible where new tooling is booked.

It is the model to carry when the channel expects documentation: a 5 ATM / IP68 swim-safe rating, BLE 5.1 on the same app platform as our watches, and an EN 1811 nickel-release scope for the skin-contact build. Battery is four to six days of typical use with roughly three additional charges from the case.

R2 Smart Ring

A metal-shell ring in silver, black or gold, ordered in mixed colour-and-size batches with its own charging case in the box. Optical PPG covers heart rate and blood oxygen alongside motion and a stress index; run-time is stated on the datasheet for the revision being quoted rather than as a headline figure here.

This is the model buyers choose when the sale happens at a counter: the case keeps demo units live, three finishes let a shop build a display, and a 1,000-unit minimum spread across sizes and colours keeps a first order from stranding stock in one size curve.

What we will not build or print on a ring: no camera — a lens on a finger that records without an obvious indicator is not something we will put into a retail channel; no glucose, diabetes, blood-pressure or sleep-apnea monitoring, which are medical-device claims requiring clinical evidence and clearance we do not hold; and no water rating, cycle count or battery day before a report exists for the revision being shipped. Rings here report wellness trends for generally healthy adults. If a supplier offers an "AI ring for glucose monitoring" or a camera ring, the questions to ask are which clinical study supports it, what the recording indicator does, and where captured media goes — not what the box says.

Buying notes for this category sit in the AI Smart Rings journal topic: sizing kits and exchange rates, battery test conditions, optical sensor limits across skin tones, nickel release and skin contact, housing materials, and the white-label app tiers.

Questions ring buyers ask first

Do you make an AI ring with a camera?
No. A camera in a ring means a lens on a finger that can record people without an obvious indicator, and we are not willing to ship that into retail channels. Both rings here are sensor-only: optical heart rate and blood oxygen, motion, and on the R1 a skin-temperature trend.
Can a smart ring monitor blood glucose or detect diabetes?
No, and we will not print that claim on packaging, in an app-store listing or in a tender response. Glucose and diabetes monitoring are medical-device claims requiring clinical evidence and regulatory clearance we do not hold for these products.
How does sizing work for a first wholesale order?
Sizes 6 to 13 are stocked, half sizes are possible where new tooling is booked, and a size kit ships before the run. The 1,000-unit minimum is one order split across sizes, and unopened wrong sizes are exchangeable within the same run under the standard agreement.
Which documents come with a ring order?
Skin contact makes EN 1811 nickel release part of the scope alongside the radio and electrical set. Documents are issued per model and hardware revision, arrive with the quotation, and we state plainly which reports do not exist yet.
Can the rings be ordered under our own brand?
Yes. Logo and packaging follow the standard customisation tiers, and from 2,000 units the companion app ships white-label under your brand with EU-region hosting available. A shell change is quoted as ODM with tooling.
